Lady Belle was orphaned when she was two days of age. We very sadly lost her dam due to circumstances beyond our control. What a challenge to raise her, but as you can see, she didn't suffer any ill effects. The only nipple she would nurse on was a nuk infant nipple. It took us longer to fill the baby bottles than it took her to drink them. We fed her every two hours the first
month, every three hours her second and so on and so forth, until she was four months of age and eating solid foods well enough to stay up on weight. We put her with a baby sitter mare when she was old enough to hold her own, so at least she learned horse behavior before becoming to spoiled. We had some great neighbors pitch in to help, taking a feeding here and there, we couldn't have done it without them. She is our pride and joy. That is why we have decicated a whole page to her. She is out of Coloma Belle (Shire Mare of the Year 2x) and sired by Smokey. |
